I actually get asked this question quite often, as it is a common misconception that nails should be able to “breathe” every once in awhile and therefore require a break from your regular beautiful gel application.
The fact is that nails are dead matter. They do not need to breathe. Nails grow from within and are fed from the bloodstream. The nail plate you can see consists of dead skin made up of keratin. Just the same as your hair is and that keratin can’t breathe.
The matrix – the area under your skin where the cuticle and cuticle bed are, obtain oxygen from the bloodstream.
Not from the air.
